Here's my banner project for my GDI class. We were told to research a designer and create a banner 24 x 60 inches that represented that artists work and contribution to the Design world. It had to incorporate pieces of that Designer's work as well as information about his or her life and contributions to the field.
I chose Cipe Pineles. I found her editorial designs much in line with the simplicity that I liked within my own work and as I researched her I discovered the little sketch she made of herself in that bottom corner as well as her obsession with using miniature guaches as her process work. Honestly, I didn't feel that I could do her work justice by trying to recreate it and ended up being the only one in the class that focused on her work alone rather than attempting to mimic her style. My teacher, who's mentor wrote a book on Cipe, absolutely loved the "dynamic and playful approach to representing her life's work." I focused mainly on her editorials with Charm, Seventeen, and Glamour as working on these woman focused magazines (the first of their kind) was a huge contribution to the design field.
Alright. Enough rambling. Hope you enjoy them. Stephanie.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
